I love’d that show and the opening. Nothing like it ever again and I never watch network tv anymore. Thats Dell singin. He was takin a medication when it got the best of him and thats when it happened

Del Shannon did redo the song for show for a lot of money. He must have been going through a hard time. he committed suicide 5 years later

That’s true. He was born Anthony John Sarrero on September 20, 1949 in what was then the Italian section of Harlem, New York. He’s two days older than me.

As I recall it, this version is sung by Del Shannon himself, who made this revised version for the series in 1986. Todd Rundgren was the musical director for the series, but he didn´t sang this version.

The Crime Story theme Runaway is done by Todd Rundgren - it is a remake of Del Shannon’s hit.

Originally recorded around 1960, if I remember correctly, and he came back to do this remake in the ’80s. Also, I think Al Kooper (Blues Project, Blood Sweat & Tears, excellent producer and session musician) was musical director on this show.

And Dennison really is a paisano (changed his last name).
